Does Home Depot sell Benjamin Moore paint?

Benjamin Moore distributes through a network of local, independently owned paint stores. That has been their model for decades, because people come first. The tradeoff they chose: fewer locations, but every location staffed by people who sell paint for a living, rather than paint plus lumber plus lawn mowers.

So when you search for Benjamin Moore near you, the results are local dealers. In West Lexington, that is us, Commonwealth Coatings, (859) 407-3263.

Home Depot's house paint brand is Behr, plus Glidden and PPG lines. Decent paints for what they are. But if a designer spec, a touch-up, or your own research points you to a Benjamin Moore color or product, a Behr color that looks close on a chip is not the same formula and will not age the same way. Color names do not cross brands either; there is no Behr version of Hale Navy.

Lowe's does not carry Benjamin Moore. Their shelves are Valspar and Sherwin-Williams brands. Ace Hardware is the one partial exception people have heard about; some Ace stores carry a limited Benjamin Moore selection. The catch is the word limited. A hardware aisle carries a slice of the lineup; a dealer carries the whole system plus the color matching and the people who know it.

Three reasons. The full lineup is on the shelf, including the contractor lines and specialty products a partial display skips. We match colors from chips, photos, and other brands' formulas while you wait. And the advice is free; we will tell you which product your project actually needs, including when it is the cheaper one.
